A £1.25 billion government contract was given to Rosyth dockyard (September 2019) to build 5 frigates, securing 2500 jobs. Boris Johnson talked about a need for the shipbuilding industry and stated "I look forward to the restoration of British influence and excellence across the world's oceans". He believed the contract will prompt "a renaissance in the industry".
